Before coming to First United Methodist in Winnsboro, Julie served as Associate Pastor at Shandon UMC in Columbia for 5 years.   At Shandon, Julie managed the ministry of Outreach and Evangelism, lead the church in discipleship and mission, as well as  the spiritual life and care of the congregation. Julie preached, taught, presided over the sacraments, lead the congregation in worship, and did  regular pastoral care.

While Julie relishes the opportunity that leading a congregation like First Church Winnsboro presents – setting a vision, connecting members to their own individual callings, and cultivating the mission of the church – her deepest passion is walking with people as they discover the depth of God’s love for them in their relationship with Jesus Christ, and helping them unlock how they can share that love and relationship with a hurting world. Before serving at Shandon,  Julie served as student pastor at Haygood UMC in Atlanta. While in Atlanta, she received her Master of Divinity from Candler School of Theology at Emory University. At Emory, Julie had the opportunity to travel with the World Evangelism Institute to Santiago, Chile and Asuncion, Paraguay.

Julie received her Bachelor of Arts from Winthrop University, and after college moved to New York City to pursue a career on Broadway. While in New York, Julie attended a United Methodist Church and became active in lay ministry. After two years of leadership in her church's social justice ministries, Julie felt the call to Ordained Ministry.

Julie and her husband Travis, were married in 2009. Travis is an avid tennis player and works in telecommunications for AT&T.  Julie and Travis welcomed their first child, James Glenn Belman on February 2, 2015 and their twins, Ray and Marlow on November 27, 2016.
